HTML5 – The Album (Loading Screen Symphonies & CSS-Compatible Soundscapes) (Super Deluxe Edition)
What If It Actually Existed?
Somewhere in a slightly more unreasonable universe, HTML5 – The Album (Loading Screen Symphonies & CSS-Compatible Soundscapes) was not satisfied with being an album.
It demanded discs. Several of them. A book. A DVD. A Blu-ray. A shirt. Apparently even a mug — because no meditation on loading screens, obsolete interfaces and digital waiting can truly be complete without coffee.
And so the imaginary Super Deluxe Edition grew into the kind of physical object that probably requires its own shelf, a minor financial decision and several minutes just to work out where Disc 1 is.
But what if it really existed?
Would anyone still want music packaged like this — absurdly tangible, unnecessarily elaborate, gloriously excessive? A box containing hours of sound, images, words and objects, created in defiance of the idea that everything should eventually become an invisible file somewhere in the cloud?
Perhaps the most appropriate fate for an album called HTML5 would be to become the least digital object imaginable.
I have to admit:
I rather wish this thing were real.
Requiem for Two People
The Requiem for My Parents is almost finished. Now I just need to turn these tracks into a cohesive album.
The Anechoic Papers – No.02. A World Growing Used To Lies (Donald Trump and the Normalization of the Unthinkable)
Some political eras announce themselves with a bang. Others begin with a shrug. A sentence that would have been
unthinkable yesterday. A line crossed today that becomes just one more item in the news. An event that tomorrow is
already buried beneath something louder. None of these things, by itself, has to mean the end of a democracy. The
danger begins when the nervous system of a society stops feeling the difference between the exceptional and the
ordinary.
In that sense, Donald Trump is less a mystery than a stress test. Not every decision he makes is wrong. Not every
accusation against him is true. Not every institution that opposes him is automatically noble or infallible. But that is
precisely why the essential question cannot be dismissed with partisan slogans. The question is not whether you like
him. The question is what standards remain when power, truth, business, loyalty, and personal grievance become
harder and harder to separate within the same political space.
This essay is therefore not looking for the most spectacular rumor. It is looking for the pattern that remains once
rumor is removed. For what is documented. For what can reasonably be inferred from documented facts. And for
the places where we must say explicitly: We do not know.
The darkness of this text does not come from exaggeration. It comes from the possibility that a society can become
accustomed to almost anything – even to things it would have considered incompatible with its own political
identity only a few years earlier.
